Elfa's Favourite Things - Tim

I put these links here, because I have bought my favourite things through them and been happy with the service I got. There are lots of links from UK Juicers, where I have been a regular costumer for years now. I have bought almost all my RAW kitchen gear from them through the years. This company gets my highest recommendation for an outstanding service! If anything has come up with anything I have bought from them, they have been the best in fixing or replacing it right away.

Sleep Mask

You will hear me talk about this all the time! The importance of sleeping in total darkness and cover your eyes as well, so you get the most possible production of melanin every night. There are two sleep masks that I really like: Tempur and Sleep Master. The Tempur is always my first pick, as it really keeps the light out.

Squatty Potty

Humans are built to squat when relieving themselves. Sadly, Western toilets are designed. for us to sit on like a chair, which has been shown to be very long-term damaging for our health. The Squatty Potty toilet stool is perfect and is by every toilet in my home, so we can go squatty when and wherever needed!

I have for years been a big Blendtec fan. I own both Blendtec and Vitamix, but I hardly ever used my Vitamix, mainly for the reason that the jar on it (the high 2L jar), is so hard to get the last bit of food out of and very “boring” to clean properly! After discovering that I could use the new 2L low container jar on my Vitamix, my choice of a favourite blender changed. I recommend the Vitamix blender to everyone now and I promise that you will not be disappointed. This investment will last you a lifetime!

You can also get the simpler version. It has the same powerful motor, but it does not come with the extra programs for specific food making.

If you already have a Vitamix, you can simply order the new, lower 2L jar and you will be enjoying a whole new blender experience with this one!

When it comes to food processors I'm very picky! I have had quiet few through the years and they are all different when it comes to performance.

I have one which I would love to be able to recommend to you. It has a double S-blade, which is so cleaver and it is very powerful (2000W). But it has the biggest fault you can find in a food processor: a built-in mechanism that stops the motor if there is anything tough to get through! This makes this otherwise fantastic food processor, almost a useless gadget when it comes to making anything solid, like RAW cake bases with dates and nuts, or ice cream from frozen fruit, as it doesn't even get through big chunks of root veggies… :(

However, the Cuisinart food processor is the one I have been the happiest with over all. It just gets through the tough bits and the motor does not stop working at any time. It gets the job done!

When it comes to juicers, my first pick is a slow juicer. Simply because of the quality of the juice you get. It takes a bit longer to juice with a slow juicer, but it is very much worth it! I've had an Omega Vert for a few years and I'm very happy with it. If you're only going to have one juicer, this is the one I recommend for you.

I also have this faster version of a juicer. After having used and owned a few of them in the past, I have to admit that I LOVE my SAGE Pro Juicer. It is super fast, but still does not heat up any of the produce, like many of the fast juicers do. It's easy to clean and leaves very dry pulp behind.

A dehydrator will open up a whole new world for you when it comes to making fun and delicious raw food dishes. I have owned a few different ones in the past, but I have to say that the first dehydrator I ever bought, from Excalibur, is the most solid one I've ever owned. It is very reliable and because it doesn't come with a computer program to set the time or heat - like many of them have today - I've never had to send it in to be reprogrammed or fixed. And to top it all, it comes at a great price as well!

Don’t forget to get your non stick sheets with it, so you will be able to use your dehydrator in all the fun ways!

A spiral slicer is a great tool to have in your kitchen. It can turn fruits and veggies into fun sliced spaghetti, noodles or long spirals. This will make most kids want to tuck into any veggies put in front of them. The horizontal Benriner slicer is a bit more expensive than most of them, but is really worth every penny! I find it cuts really well and is very stable on the table so it's much easier to use than most of them.
